My Best Friend?

I suppose the idea to create this exhibition began on a miserable Sunday afternoon when I looked out of my studio window and saw a man and an elderly women being pulled towards each other by their unruly dogs. The dogs were excited whilst their owners were very serious and somewhat embarrassed. For me it was a wonderful situation and I wanted to share the humour of it with others. So I immediately set to work on making Walking the dogs.

Later, I chanced to hear a series of radio interviews with people who were considered eccentric because of the manner in which they pampered their unusual pets. The stories these people related fired my imagination and after a closer look at the relationship between my neighbours and their animals I spent the following eighteen months creating My Best Friend?
